Program Description & Speaker:
A number of international computer security breaches that led to personal data scams, (e.g. TJX), led the Massachusetts legislature to enact new privacy laws. Compliance with these regulations is right around the corner: March 1, 2010. Some aspects of the new privacy legislation are straightforward, but several areas are particularly troubling because compliance requirements are not well defined.
The presentation will focus on how to respond to imprecise regulatory guidelines and successfully manage compliance and risk. In addition, the development of a foundation for operating in trusted communities will be examined, which is representative of both regulatory- and risk-based approaches to maintaining privacy.
Our Speakers:
MacDonnell Ulsch and John Collucci are experts in risk management and legal compliance who can help businesses understand what steps they must take to be in compliance with the new Massachusetts privacy laws.
MacDonnell Ulsch is the Managing Partner and Chief Risk Analyst at ZeroPoint Risk Research, LLC, of Boston, MA and is the author of the book “THREAT! Managing Risk in a Hostile World,” published in 2008. He created the risk profiling methodology known as the Enterprise Threat Index (ETX) PRISM or Predictive Risk Impact Scenario Modeling, which was designed to reduce illicit intellectual property acquisition and identity theft. He was at the National Security Institute for many years and worked with Senator Sam Nunn on information policy and was an advisor to the Presidential Counterintelligence Office.
