Program Description:
William Bolt, Senior VP of Global Product Operations discusses how Abiomed has successfully adapted to trends and environmental factors such as regulatory requirements, healthcare insurance/industry changes, and technology developments to remain financially stable and sustain growth at the McLane Law Firm sponsored North Shore Technology Council June event.
The United States’ healthcare and medical device industries are at confluence of great technological breakthroughs, growing demand for care and increasing regulation and government oversight – all aimed at protecting and helping consumers. But the reality is that these factors often clash, slowing progress and leaving promising technologies and their companies in the dust. Our speaker’s company, Abiomed, has a different story to tell.
Abiomed’s technology is based on heart pumps and the evolution of blood pump technology. The technology supports critical patients with acute or chronic heart failure.
William Bolt, Senior VP of Global Product Operations will discussing the evolution of this technology over 25 years and how the business has adapted to trends and environmental factors such as global regulatory requirements, healthcare insurance and how it impacts hospital reimbursement, industry changes, technology developments, and other laws.
In fact, Abiomed is financially stable and continues to grow. Since 1982 the company has grown from 13 employees to more than 400 employees worldwide. They have grown their global presence over the last 3 years through a key acquisition and operational team, Abiomed Europe that produces the major product lines for the company in Germany.
