Business Breakfast – Jan 24 at the Peabody Marriott
Full Title: Economic Update: Critical Questions for 2018
Speaker: Robert Gough, PhD
Managing Director of Chatham Hill
Sponsor: Ulen and Hogue Financial
“It’s not the answer that enlightens, but the question.”
“In the economy and public policy, 2017 left us with mountains of useless answers. The main reason: we are asking the wrong questions and unenlightened questions”, says Dr. Robert A. Gough, Jr. Managing Director of Chatham Hill, a strategic analytics firm that advises companies from mid-cap to Fortune 500 in future-state thinking and execution. Gough notes that it has been over a year since the “Presidential Reality Show of 2016” yielded the most surprising winner in modern history – in part, because key questions were not understood, let alone even asked. Meanwhile, technology continues to blaze a path of its own, oblivious to ideological debates, political rhetoric, and market idiosyncrasies. Gough says the questions which now must be considered in understanding the economic landscape over the next year must also include both the accelerating realities of technology and the inhibiting realities of public policy. Combined, a thorough and insightful review of these important backdrops helps to frame the Critical Questions of 2018. Join us for the North Shore Technology Council’s annual economic outlook forum, featuring Bob Gough, Ph.D.
