May 6 Sustainability Forum LUNCHEON SEMINAR: Community Shared Solar as Focus for STEM Energy Curriculum
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION.
The energy market is in the midst of profound change with an increased focus on sustainability initiatives at the Federal, State, and Corporate levels. Solar PV systems on residential, commercial and municipal building rooftops are becoming mainstream power generation solutions. Community Shared Solar (CSS) is a new cooperative approach which allows people without the means or physical location to participate in this wave of solar generation growth. Since many of these CSS projects are located on schools, why not use the array as an opportunity to teach the students and the community at large about how we create and use energy? This meshes well with our regions increased focus on STEM subjects, especially at the K-12 level.
Bill Mirabile and Craig Dwyer will review Brightergys offerings which include; Solar, Efficiency, Co-Generation and Energy Services. In particular, they will review the CSS concept, various ways that it has been implemented around the country, as well as the complete teaching curriculum that Brightergy has developed for its educational institution clients. As part of this discussion, they’ll address some common solar solutions and touch on the financing mechanisms behind them, including the solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the Net Metering Credit Purchase Agreement (NMCPA), etc.
