Great technology is not enough to lead to a successful development. Technologies need to be translated into a solution that can solve the most intractable problems. What I call the founding vision. The next step is to build a plan with the most capable people to guide the development that identifies the resources and the time necessary to realize the vision. The most important questions are, can this vision create enough value to compensate everyone along the way, and can it be demonstrated. If not, reimagine the founding vision and build a new plan. Rinse and repeat, until you are ready to enter the scrum of the capital markets.
